One night in October 2008, 26 year old Anne Pressly slept alone, peacefully in her own home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Pressly was a local news anchor, a Christian from a Christian family. On this night we would get a harrowing and sickening look at why we should be prepared for what this world may bring our way. As she slept, outside her home was a human predator not worthy to walk on this earth alive. But he was and Pressly's house is the one he had chosen to do what he did which was prey on people.
Pressly awoke to the groping touch of the intruder who had made his way unnoticed into her home. Evidence that would later be presented in court indicated she fought him with considerable force but to no avail. As she fought, he began to bludgeon her head, her face, her body. He molested her, raped her and beat her savagely, ultimately resulting in her death. Every blow split her skin. Her skull sustained five fractures. The emergency room doctor who spent 2 and a half hours stabilizing and treating Pressly said that she "was not recognizable as a human." A blow to her jaw was so hard that it fractured her skull and impeded the brain's oxygen supply. Her jaw was so far dislocated that it appeared to be part of her neck.
And this was a Christian from a Christian family.
Now, I'm tired of answering notes from people who are "struggling" with whether they should own and carry a weapon. Over-spiritualizing and analyzing until they are wringing their hands with guilt when a clear reading of scripture shows that God never disarmed His people in either the Old or New Testaments. Past that, if you want to sit around and whine about your conscience, better take another look at the story above. Scripture tells us that God sends rain on the just and on the unjust and causes the sun to shine on the good and the evil. Living in a fallen world, we can either acknowledge that God gives us all the resources the rest of the world has to protect itself, or we can leave ourselves or our families open to the kind of fate Anne Pressly suffered. And she did not suffer for her faith. She suffered for no other reason than she was a convenient target for a human predator who had no concern about her Christian faith or anything other than what he could wring out of her to satisfy his base hungers. Too bad she was not prepared to both be aware of him and send him into eternity instead of losing her own life for no reason.
So, all scriptural evidence that anyone should need is on my web site. There's plenty more in the Old Testament. Go find it. Just don't ask me to go to the trouble of giving you more. In my estimation it is a weak kneed, cowardly man who will not simply find out what the clear mandates of scripture are, then take action to protect themselves and their families. Or, would you rather your wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister suffer the same fate as Anne Pressly while you wring your hands feeling guilty about owning and if necessary using a weapon? Get an alarm system, a big, loud dog, and enough guns to place strategically or carry to defend yourself if necessary.
In this fallen world, the decisions other people make can bring devastating results to us and our families. We as Christians have the same opportunities to defend ourselves as the rest of the world. Don't let the sludge of society who are looking for prey make your family their next victim.

The Girl Can Shoot
This is the way my daughter and I play. She turned 16 last Saturday and the pics below are from the day before on Friday when she was out of school for parent/teacher conferences. Jacquilyn stole our heart when she came to live with us when she was nine years old. While she basically became our daughter right away, she officially became our daughter a year and a half after she came to live with us. She's been featured in a number of my articles for obvious reasons. Here on a cold Friday, there was nothing she couldn't handle in the way of a shootin iron.
OUR TOYS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HANDLING THE 44 MAGNUM ON ONE KNEE

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SHOOTING WHAT SHE SAYS IS HER "FAVORITE: THE SIG P220

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STOPPING A HOME INVASION

What better way than with the Model 29? Please no lectures on over-penetration of the bullet. We're having some fun here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HER "SECOND FAVORITE" THE TAURUS 627 .357 MAGNUM

She didn't want to quit till we were out of ammo so when we ran out of bullets that's when we gave it up. Two and a half hours of shooting big, stout handguns, and she never got tired of it. And now of course, any gun she likes best at any given moment, she can call "hers".
Do you take your kids shooting? Time to start.
Here's to your good shooting ~ Mark Rogers

Obama Approval Falling Like a Rock
Today's Rasmussen Report shows that overall, 49% of Americans somewhat approve of the job the President is doing. 50% now disapprove. Now as polls go, this is, while within one or two percentage points, a dead heat between approval and disapproval. But more importantly, it shows that the starry eyed, Kool Aid drinkers, those that voted on the basis of race, their own selfish needs, or some version of fantasy-land liberalism that helped put him in office are now finally contending with reality.
They are still losing their jobs. Their investments have tanked. They have found that they have a national debt that has increased by trillions. They know that the stability of gas prices still rest on drilling here, which Obama still has not acquiesced to. They are finally getting it that with the multiple bank bailouts, that government now virtually owns a huge chunk of the banking business in the U.S. All while the banks continue to give obscene bonuses to inept executives on the tax payer's ticket while the rank and file workers remain unemployed.
He has joined with, or appointed to his administration, one fool after another. There just is no other word for many of them. Joe Biden's gigantic, gaffe filled mouth continues to confound the president and entertain the country and comedians. Eric Holder has branded us a "nation of cowards". His latest standout goof ball was Van Jones, yet another Obama "czar" who had to resign post haste because of his verbal racial idiocy. And Obama himself has consistently disparaged our country, pointing out America's "faults" all over the world. He has commented publicly, based on his racial perceptions of a local arrest, and ended up looking like a goof who had to get two guys together at the White House for a beer hoping it would be a "teaching moment" for America. Wonderful representative of the greatest nation on earth.
Now, he has the formidable task, with dropping approval ratings, of implementing what has been historically, an absolute political loser; taxpayer funded health care. One of his recent efforts to push it was his address to the nation where he promised to "call out" anybody challenging his public health care debacle. So much for consiliatory treatment of congress. But when one grows desparate, one often resorts to being "tough" so as to seem in control. But not in this age of information where everything that happens, happens everywhere at once and cannot escape notice.
So down, down, down, go the approval ratings. And with them is going the hopes of this socialist president who would, if he could get his way, put everything American under federal control. But with the information that is available to us, and to a populace, however seemingly disjointed from time to time, still insists on freedom.
Barack Obama was elected to political office by a clear majority of the American people who believed he would have the answer to our financial dilemma. He didn't, and now he has compounded it and insists on the American people trusting him to keep moving forward with his failing agendas.
America, character counts. It was clear from Barack Obama's political associations, his historic positions, and his deplorable moral positions, that he would be a political animal that would find his way to the White House by any means. In his case, it was grand promises, charisma, and a belief that America's financial future could be trusted in his hands. The Pied Piper led America down a crooked path.
But the playing pipe has lost it's effect. The people are no longer entranced. And unless President Obama can perform miracles (which I'm sure he would insist he can), he is headed down a spiraling fall that he may not be able to recover from. And I hope that's the case. Because Barack Obama was given a chance by the American people to take the reigns of some serious issues with the trust that he would show steady leadership. Instead, he has rambunctiously hired inept officials, further crippled the economy, and disparaged America in front of the world.
His approval ratings, which will inevitably bottom out, will cause his own party to turn on him, make him ineffective at implementing anything, and will help America decisively oust him at the end of four years. I'm sure we will have had enough. And he won't be able to turn this around, because his ideology is solidly rooted in federal control and socialist policies. It appears to me his conviction is too deep and his belief is so strong that government is the answer to everything, he will just continue to dig the hole deeper. If he wants to change those beliefs, starts to lead with character, responsibility and the principles of American greatness, he will earn moral authority and I'll be his biggest cheerleader.
But that won't happen. And that's ok. Because the people that voted him into office need a good dose of something they won't soon forget. That way they won't make the same mistake next time when the presidential election rolls around.
